What’s the difference between Bitcoin and “crypto”? +
“Crypto” is an umbrella term. Bitcoin is a decentralized monetary network; many “crypto” tokens are projects with issuers, marketing, and different risk profiles. We focus on Bitcoin-only education to reduce confusion.
Is Bitcoin a scam? +
Bitcoin is open-source software used globally, but scams often use the word “Bitcoin.” We’ll teach how to identify common scams and reduce risk.
Why does Bitcoin’s price swing so much? +
Bitcoin is still a relatively young global asset with changing supply/demand dynamics. We’ll frame volatility as a risk factor to understand — not a marketing point.
Is Bitcoin anonymous / “for criminals”? +
Bitcoin transactions are publicly visible on a ledger; identities may not be directly listed, but activity can be analyzed. Like cash or the internet, any tool can be misused — we’ll cover facts and common misconceptions.
What does “self-custody” mean? +
Self-custody means you control the private keys. It can reduce counterparty risk, but increases personal responsibility. We’ll focus on concepts: backups, recovery, and avoiding common mistakes.
What’s hot vs cold storage? +
Hot wallets are connected to the internet (more convenient). Cold storage is kept offline (generally safer for long-term holdings). We’ll teach tradeoffs and best practices, not “one-size-fits-all.”
Are exchanges safe? +
Exchanges can be convenient, but they introduce counterparty risk. We’ll cover evaluation frameworks, security hygiene (2FA, phishing resistance), and custody concepts.
Is Bitcoin bad for the environment? +
Bitcoin mining uses energy. The real discussion is about energy sources, grid dynamics, and tradeoffs. We’ll provide clear explanations and reputable references.
Do I need to understand the tech to learn Bitcoin? +
